

Our beloved Kirby E McLain, Jr. of Grand Prairie, TX was taken home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Kirby was born on May 20, 1949 in Montgomery, AL. He attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX before joining the U.S. Navy in 1969. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
After Kirby’s time in the Navy, he found a career in the Oil and Gas business where he spent over 30 years. Always wanting to see the world, this career brought him to West Africa, where he spent nearly 20 years in Nigeria and Angola. In his free time, he enjoyed wood working and other various DIY projects around their home. He built and refurbished many pieces of furniture for himself and Theresa, their children, and grandchildren.
Kirby is preceded in death by his Granny Fay Coyle, Mother Grace Elizabeth McLain (Coyle), Father Kirby E McLain, Sr., niece Jennifer Arrasmith (Toups), Mother-in-law Norma Woodard (Jacob), Father-in-law Clark Woodard, and Brother-in-law Bob Spraggins. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Theresa McLain (Woodard), daughter Angela Pedregon (McLain), son-in-law Saul Pedregon, son Kirby E McLain III, daughter-in-law Katie McLain (Pye), Grandson Jake Nunley, granddaughters Mary Grace Nunley, Jeane Nunley, and Raileigh McLain, sisters Sallie Spraggins (Mclain) and Grace Collier (McLain), brother-in-law Max Collier and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kirby’s life will take place on September 20, 2025 at 11 am at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral home, located at 2951 S Belt Line Rd Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
