

She was born on October 7, 1934 in Turkey, Texas to Arvil and Juanell Hooker. After later moving to Grand Prairie, Texas as a child, LaFon lived a full life for many decades, surrounded by family and friends. She was a proud graduate of Grand Prairie High School, class of 1952, where she was a twirler in the GPHS Band. She attended Abilene Christian College for a short time after high school. Most of her professional career was at L3 Simulation of Arlington Texas before retiring in 2002. After retirement she met and later married the love of her life, Ray Simpson, in 2009. During their time together, they enjoyed family, traveling (and she enjoyed shopping) and volunteering at Beltline Road Church of Christ where they had been members for the past several years.
LaFon was preceded in death by her father, Arvil and mother, Juanell as well as her younger brother Lewis Hooker of Cedar Creek, Texas and Daughter in Law, Paula Hunter of Grand Prairie, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Ray Simpson of 17 years, two sons; Jay Hunter and wife Randa of Cisco, Texas and Bobby Hunter of Grand Prairie, Texas; and Ray’s daughter, Vicky and husband Larry Baumeister of Burlington, Wisconsin.

A visitation for Lafon will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Belt Line Road Church of Christ, 1202 N. Belt Line Road, Irving, TX 75061. Following the visitation will be a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Belt Line Road Church of Christ, 1202 N. Belt Line Road, Irving, TX 75061.
