Larry Wayne Blackburn, MD. 1956 - 2020

Dr. Larry Blackburn, MD was beamed up November 16, 2020. After a very long fight for life, his mission ended at home, and he is now free to embark on further exploration of the galaxies with God. He is loved very much and will be missed and remembered by his family, friends, patients, and online gamers. For those that knew him, he wanted everyone to Live Long and Prosper, and always remember to take a reraise potion into your battles. Dr. Blackburn was born Sept. 1956 to Marshall and Margret (Dingman) Blackburn in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He grew up, went to college in Austin and San Antonio, and became a family physician for the South Oak Cliff and Duncanville area. 33 years of patients may remember him as Dr. BB, they liked him because he was logical as Mr. Spock, and very practical. He is survived by his wife Lori, his 3 children, Deanna Joy, Henry Marshall, and Valary Star, and also his Mt. Pleasant, Texas family, especially with big hugs his brother Richard, Richard’s wife Ronda and their children and grandchildren, all of which have been country wonderful to him all his life. Niece Cristy and her youngins', Nephew Gary Marshall Blackburn and his wife Anna, Nephew in law Tony Burgess and his family, there are many Blackburns all over and thanks to 23andme and ancestry tests just assume we are all family on this Earth.

More information will be listed at a later date, the family will be having a private funeral due to restrictions on Monday in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Just know that he truly was a smart man, he loved his family, he loved Dr. Pepper, he loved Final Fantasy XI and XIV, he loved Star Trek, Star wars, Stargate, Battlestar Gallactica, Galaxy Quest, Guardians of the Galaxy, Tinkerbell, and Wonder Woman. He wanted to be like Mr. Spock, but became Bones McCoy. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, he missed his patients very much, and he missed driving to work listening to Get this party started by Pink. There’s more, so if we missed you, don’t fret, he wanted everyone to Live long and Prosper, and to boldly go where no one has gone before, and to beware the trouble with tribbles.

As a note, his battle with his health made him a TANK, he went through 7 stents in his heart, diabetes, a bad leg since he was 30, over 4 strokes just in the last 2 years, a fractured L3 and a pinched spinal cord, kidney stones, a lap band, not in that order and there’s more, but no matter what, he would put his tie on everyday he could, to be there for his patients and his family. Hugs to all.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Blackburn family.

I met and worked with Dr. Blackburn when he started with Cigna Health Plan in early 80's. We went thru many changes during our over 30 years together. He was one of the most popular Doctors in our practice. I see many of our patients and they always ask about him. He retired after I did but everyone still missed him. My deepest sympathy to you Lori and the Children. Since we were the first ones there and usually last to leave he shared many bits of information on you and the Children. He loved you all and he cared for many of us on staff. He will be missed my everyone. Love and Prayers and Peace for all of his Family.
