

Leonard Anthony Senerote JR. born on 5 /27/1946 and died peacefully at home on June 21,2023, surrounded by family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Leonard, Senior and Helen, his parents in law, Alfred and Ruth Ackerman, and by his loving and devoted wife, Christine Anne Senerote. He has longed to join her eternally since her passing. He is survived by his sister, Jerry Senerote of South Carolina, his brothers in law, Jeffrey Ackerman, wife Peggy, of Boston MA, and Jon Ackerman, his life partner, Scott Housen of Hudson NH. He is also survived by his niece, Kristin Ackerman Locuson, and her husband, Chuck, and his great niece, Ada Belle Locuson, all of Wenham MA.
Leonard earned his B.S. in Ceramic Engineering in 1968 from Clemson University in South Carolina and remained an avid Clemson Tiger until the end of his life. He joined the Military after college, and while stationed in Massachusetts, he met the love of his life, Christine Anne Ackerman. They were married in May of 1972.
They then moved to Thailand, where he was stationed and served his country for the next 5 years. While there he was a highly decorated Army Ranger, earning several awards and medals including the Bronze Star, Joint Service Commendation, Army Accommodation medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (6 campaigns) Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachute Badge, Ranger TAB and the Vietnam Cross with Palm.
After leaving Thailand, they returned to South Carolina where he attended the University of South Carolina Law School and graduated in 1977. He started practicing law and they moved to Texas, where he was a Special Assistant US Attorney from July of 1981 through his retirement.
After his retirement he spent his days with his beloved wife Chris, keeping active at the Summit until her passing in 2020.
A memorial gathering will take place at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050 on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm in the Chapel. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:15 am at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
