May 13, 1939-October 6, 2026
Lois Elaine Rothert Robinson, 87, of Arlington, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on October 6, 2026. She was born on May 13, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Herman W. Rothert and Pearl Cheek Rothert, and was their only child.
Lois attended Deer Park schools and graduated from Deer Park High School in June 1957. Following graduation, while visiting her aunt and cousins in East Point, Georgia, she met the love of her life, Charles Robinson. The two were married on July 4, 1959, and shared more than 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Lois will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a faithful Army wife who stood steadfastly beside her husband throughout his military career. Over the years, she accompanied Charles on assignments and relocations from Ohio to Alaska, Michigan, New Mexico, Kansas, Germany, Texas, and Washington, D.C. Through every move and transition, Lois remained the heart of her family, raising their two sons and daughter with love, strength, and dedication. She also spent two years caring for their family on her own while Charles served in Vietnam and Korea, along with numerous other periods when his duties required him to travel or be away on training missions.
A dedicated registered nurse, Lois earned a full scholarship to the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, where she completed her studies and became a registered nurse. Throughout her husband's military career, she worked in hospitals and military dispensaries in Cleveland, Ohio; Fort Richardson, Alaska; Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Fairfax, Virginia; and Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. After settling in Arlington, Texas, she continued her nursing career in hospitals and doctors' offices, bringing compassion, skill, and care to those she served.
Beyond her nursing career and devotion to her family, Lois was a gifted artist who enjoyed decorative tole painting on wood, cross-stitching, and a variety of arts and crafts. She generously volunteered with the American Red Cross and the American Legion Auxiliary. Lois was also a wonderful cook who loved entertaining family and friends and preparing delicious meals for church potluck dinners.
Lois especially loved spending time at the beach, with South Padre Island, Texas, being her favorite vacation destination. Her life was marked by resilience and courage, including her victory over breast cancer, which she survived with strength and determination.
Lois leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion that will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 67 years, Charles Robinson of Arlington, Texas; her daughter, Beth Robinson of Arlington, Texas; her son, John Robinson, and his wife, Kelli; and her son, Charles “Chuck” Robinson of Binghamton, New York, and his wife, Dianna Nelson. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Chance Robinson and Rachel Robinson, both of Binghamton, New York, and Tyler Robinson of Arlington, Texas.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Herman W. Rothert and Pearl Cheek Rothert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Lois's honor to Saint Stephen Global Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Though she will be deeply missed, Lois's faith, kindness, artistic spirit, and unwavering love for her family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
