Lou Benson

Louis "Lou" Alexander Benson, age 73, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. Lou was born March 14, 1948 in Chester, PA to Louis Alexander Benson and Barbara Ann (Johnson) Benson.

Lou proudly served his country with 23 years in the US Navy where he served in many capacities with Submarines. He was a technician with ballistic missile weapons, launcher and navigational systems. He also was Chief of the Boat (All Submarines.) In 1993, Lou retired from the Navy. In his spare time, Lou loved to do woodworking project where he could put his creativity to work. In 2002, Lou moved to Texas to be closer to his family. He was a member of the American Legion where he rode with the Legion Riders. In 2011 his wife passed away and he later met Paula Wilberg, they were married in 2015.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Benson; 3 stepchildren; other family and many friends all who will miss him very much.

Graveside services with full Navy honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

The family invites everyone to join them for a gathering to celebrate Lou's life immediately following the graveside at the American Legion Post 424, 3940 S. Ledbetter Drive, Dallas, Texas 75236.
