In 1961 while attending high school, Luz met the love of his life, Candelaria. They moved from Harlingen in 1967 to Grand Prairie. He began working at Martin Sprocket & Gear and after 35 years, he retired in 1998. When AT&T stadium opening in 2009, Luz started working as a tour guide until his passing.
Luz is survived by his wife of 60 years, Candelaria Oliverez; his son Luz Olivarez, Jr.; his daughter Lydia Olivarez; his daughter Linda Olivarez; his son Ernest Olivarez; and his son Lee Olivarez; his grandson Luz Olivarez, III, his grandson Michael Olivarez, his granddaughter Mya Olivarez, his granddaughter Ivy Olivarez, his great granddaughter Angel Olivarez, his great grandson Luz Olivarez, IV, his great granddaughter Jenessa Olivarez, his great grandson Jonathan Olivarez, his great grandson Josiah Olivarez and his great great granddaughter Helena Olivarez, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
A rosary service for Luz will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A visitation will occur Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
