

Margarita “Mage” Tijerina was born on November 15, 1948, to Benigno and Fabiana Ramirez in Mexico and grew up in La Grulla, Texas. She was the eldest of 12 siblings: Jaime Mateo Ramirez, Benigno Ramirez, Jr., Ana M. R. Castillo, Jose Joel Ramirez, Cruz Magallan, Jesucita Ramirez (deceased), Guadalupe Ramirez, Adriana Solis, Josephina De La Paz Mora, and twins Lizandro Ramirez and Lucila Munoz.
She married Francisco Tijerina and they had four children: Liza Michelle Rodriguez, Belinda Ivette Chavez, Francisco Pascual Tijerina, and Sheila Renee Tijerina. They lived in Grand Prairie, Texas.
She worked as a candy striper after high school, then worked in the insurance industry, and later spent the bulk of her career working with children in schools and daycares. She loved family, food, music, and dancing. She was over a 25-year cancer survivor and died on Saturday, August 12, 2023. In addition to her husband, siblings and children, she is survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A visitation for Margarita will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX. Following the visitation will be a committal service at 11:00 AM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
