Maria was born to Ramiro and Alida Garza Hovey on December 15, 1956 in Rio Grande City, Texas. A 1976 graduate of Grand Prairie High school, Maria married Angel Marquez Alvarado, Jr. on September 25, 1976 and together they had two sons, Albino Alvarado and Antonio Alvarado.
Maria retired from Vought Aircraft in 2012 after 27 years as Housekeeping Department Supervisor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramiro Sr. and Alida Hovey and younger brother, Ramiro Hovey, Jr.
Maria is survived by her husband, Angel from Grand Prairie, TX as well as two sons whom she loved deeply – Albino, wife Sarah, grandson Amos Jordan (“AJ”) and soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Aurora, from Fort Worth, TX; Antonio and Ashley, with son, Aiden from Norman, Oklahoma; her sister, Vilma and husband, Carlos Pisconte from Grand Prairie, TX; and sister, Evelyn and John Pittcock of Grand Prairie, TX. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Maria – her beautiful smile, vivacious personality, and her tight, warm embraces – will be greatly missed by all, as she made friends wherever she met. We take comfort in knowing she has earned her wings and is with the Lord she loved and talked about often.
