Martin Perez went to be with his Lord Monday, March 11, 2013. He was born February 11, 1933 in Alamo, TX to Margarito and Martina Perez. After growing up and finishing high school Martin enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served multiple tours. Upon his return to civilian life he met and fell in love with Flora, they were married February 18, 1964. They shared 49 years together and had six beautiful children; Martin Jr., Johnny, Carmen, Phillis, Consuelo, Marty Martin. Martin was a caring man who always put his family first. He was a hard worker who spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren and was more like a father to everyone in the family. Martin was known for his white v-neck tees along with a Jack Daniels and coke. If he wasn’t yelling at the t.v. during the Dallas Cowboys game then he was enjoying Duck Dynasty, Storage Wars or Western movies. Watching t.v. was not the only thing he dabbled in, he always loved to beat everyone at pool or dominoes, and he was always trying to feed the family. He would tell his grandchildren that they are too skinny and ask if their parents feed them. When it was dinner time and Martin had his choice for the meal it was easy. Either Churches Chicken or tortillas with chorizo.
Something special about Martin was he shared his birthday with 2 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday March 17, 2013 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home on Dalworth from 6-9pm. Services will be held Monday March 18, 2013 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home on Dalworth at 10:30am with interment at DFW National Cemetery following the service.
