

Mary was born , June 2, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she began a life marked by faith, strength, and devotion to the people she loved. She carried those qualities throughout her life and shared them generously with everyone around her. She was a woman whose presence reflected determination, and she will be remembered as faith-filled, spirited, and courageous.
She was a lifelong seamstress, and through her hands she created not only clothing, but also comfort, beauty, and care. Her skill and dedication were a reflection of the pride she took in doing things well. Whether she was sewing for loved ones or putting her talents to use in everyday life, Mary approached her work with patience and heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Q Contreras, and her father, Alex Contreras. Her brother, Alex Contreras Jr., and her sisters, Delfina Clayton, Lydia Contreras.
Mary is survived by her Sister Rosa C. Tovar and her Children, Rose Luna, Linda Vega, Carlos Mondragon, Betty Matthews, Doye Dennis Johnson, and Adrian Johnson. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought her great joy and pride. Her family was one of her greatest blessings, and she treasured the bonds she shared with them across the generations.
May she rest in peace, and may her memory remain a lasting comfort to all who loved her.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home on August 28th, 2026 at 10am.
