

Mary Roberts Hall, age 71, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away December 9, 2015. She was born June 13, 1944, in Porum Oklahoma to William Herbert and Bessie (Ibison) Roberts. On February 29, 1980, Mary married James E. Hall, Jr. in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Mary joined the United States Air Force in May of 1963 and proudly served her country as Airman First Class when she was released from active duty in 1966 and remained in the Air Force Reserve until 1967. She entered the Air National Guard around 1977 and achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant. She received many commendations and medals for her dedication and service. She qualified as an expert marksman in the M-16, the 38-caliber handgun, and M-60 light machine gun both left-handed and right-handed.
She was proud to serve at a time when women were breaking new ground in military service. She was quoted as saying ”God be with all of us and guide us to work in harmony for the protection of our country.”
She was a lifetime member of the Grand Prairie PTA, serving as chairman for Parent Education and as chairman of Overall Room Representative, lifetime member of the National Guard Association of Texas, member of the National Women’s Memorial, founding member of the Grand Prairie Community Home Improvement Committee (CHIK), Gopher Band Booster, served as the Unit Commissioner for the Cub Scouts of America and completed the Wood Badge Course, and a graduate of the Grand Prairie Citizens Police Academy.
In her later years, she was involved with a group of retirees who enjoyed exercise at the pool and weekly lunches. She created a sense of community wherever she went.
Family, however, was always her central focus. She was a very involved mother in her children’s’ lives and supported all of their endeavors. She will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her husband, James E. Hall, Jr., of Grand Prairie; beloved children, Cliff Williams and wife, Angelia, of Fort Worth; Bryan Williams and wife, Melissa, of Grand Prairie; Eddie Hall, of North Carolina; Crystal (Hall) and husband Billy Immenhauser of Palacios, Texas; Todd and wife, Melinda Hall of Yadkinville, North Carolina; Pollyann (Hall) and husband, Brian Dutterer of China Grove, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren;
Mary is also survived by sisters, Willie Mae (Roberts) Mitchell of Grand Prairie and Shirley (Roberts) Byrd of Oregon; brothers, Paul Roberts of Justin, Texas and Boyd Roberts of Celeste, Texas.
She is also survived by precious nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Herman Roberts, Fred Roberts, Beulah (Roberts) Cole, Juanita Roberts, Helen Roberts, Billie (Roberts) Powell, Dolly (Roberts) Lewis.
Committal Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
Memorial Service: 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Grand Prairie.
