

Mary Louise Whitmore Vance entered the loving arms of Jesus Christ on October 18, 2013, in Rifle, Colorado. She was a resident of E. Dene Moore Assisted Living in Rifle, Colorado. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff who lovingly cared for her. Mary Louise was born in Lake Dallas, Texas, July 17, 1916, to Rupert Irby Whitmore and Emily Olya Ross Whitmore. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband-Henry Clinton Vance, daughter-Emily Frances Vance, brother-Rupert Eldon “Whit” Whitmore and sister-in-law-Flo. Survivors: daughters—Henra Ann Trent of Gainesville, Texas, and Jill Louise Stautner of Avon, Colorado, five grandchildren—Stephen, Vance, JJ (Tony) Gora, Jordan (Gerry) Soutiere and Emily
(Mike) Kearl, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Mary Lou grew up picking cotton, studying hard, sewing and loving the Lord. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1934, from University of North Texas in 1937, taught 4th grade in Dublin, Texas, and married her high school sweetheart in 1938. She introduced her beloved brother, “Whit” to the
love of his life, Flo, and adored forever her four nieces and nephews—Linda, Randy, Doug and Pam. She worked at North American Aviation during the war and moved to Grand Prairie in 1945. Sewing,quilting, bridge, gardening, stained glass, knitting, traveling and especially her passion for painting were among her many hobbies and interests. She was very competitive and loved winning blue ribbons at the State Fair of Texas each year. A microphone in her hand was a natural extension.She accepted Christ as her Savior at age ten and studied His Word from that day on. She inspired many
and touched the hearts of everyone she met. We miss our "Dommie" but rejoice knowing she is with her beloved Emily`s—her Mom, Emily Olya, and her Daughter, Emily Francis.Funeral service is at 1 PM on Saturday, October 26th, at Funeraria Del Angel, with visitation to follow. Donations in memory of “Dommie” may be made to Shirley’s Foundation in support of continuing education and may be contributed at any Wells Fargo Bank.
