Melba Alice Hallmark, age 92, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Melba was born September 6, 1932 in Ballinger, Texas to Ray William Damron and Ruth Katherine (Tubbs) Damron.
Melba graduated from The Texas School for the Deaf in 1952 where she was the Salutatorian, a Cheerleader, Member of the Pep Squad, Secretary of her Senior Class and she was voted “The Friendliest” in her class, as well as, "Homecoming Queen".
She married Bobby Rhea Hallmark on December 6, 1953, and they were married for 49 years. Melba was a Composer & Proofreader for the Dallas Morning News where she retired after 31 years. She was a member of Crosspoint Church of Christ and the Dallas Association of the Deaf.
Melba is survived by her children: Bobby Hallmark, Jr., Susan Hallmark; grandchildren: Kayla Hallmark, Katie Hallmark, Logan King, Erica Cisneros, Alicia Hallmark, Raychel Morris, Chris Tate, Wendee Parker, Fred Dallas and Cathy Scott; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; her sister: Margie Ellen Howell and daughter in law: Annie Hallmark.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hallmark, Sr.; son, Timothy Hallmark; granddaughter, April Hallmark; parents, Ray and Ruth Damron; sister, Shannon Cantwell; daughter in law, Barbara Hallmark.
A visitation for Melba will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A funeral service will take place Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home, with a committal service following at 12:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
