

Melvin Ray Cook, was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas on August 13, 1922 to Laura and Forrest Cook. Melvin passed away peacefully in Arlington, Texas on December 5, 2019 after a long, good life of 97 years.
Melvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Sargeant in the ARMY RANGERS. He was at Pearl Harbor on December 07, 1941 when the United States was surprised attacked by Japan - many lives were lost, but by the grace of GOD, Melvin survived. He is a Bronze Star recipient. He retired from the Department of Defense- Defense Logistics Agency after 42 year civilian career.
Melvin Ray Cook is a Master Mason of SIXTY FIVE plus years and was active in the Boy Scouts with his two sons for years.
Melvin is preceded in death by: his wife of 72 years, Etta Mae Cook; his youngest son Randy Earl Cook; and his Great Grandson, Gage Bond Overton.
Melvin is survived by his eldest son, Melvin Ray Cook II; his Granddaughters, Chrissy Gomez and Hannah Dewan; his Grandson Forrest Cook; His Great Grandchildren: Jett Gomez, Dexter Cook, and Vada Cook; his Nephew, Perry McKinley; and his nieces: Sequita Stetson, Judy Sell and Denise Corjay.
A funeral service for Melvin Ray Cook will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Grand Prairie Funeral Home located in 733 Dalworth St, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Committal Service to follow after funeral service at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 pm, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
