Nancy Merritt Park, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Arlington, TX, at the age of 87. Born on December 31, 1937, in Lake Charles, LA, to James Dixon Merritt and Rena Mae Willborn, Nancy grew up in a nurturing environment that would come to shape her own role as a matriarch and friend.
Nancy, affectionately known by those closest to her, was a devoted wife to her husband, James Park, with whom she built a life rich in love and shared experiences. Together, they raised two sons, Michael and Stephen, who were the pride and joy of her life. Nancy's legacy continued to grow with her beloved grandchildren, Julie McMahan, Stephanie Park, Leann Duong, and Lauren Holt, and she was overjoyed to be a great-grandmother to Jaylee and Braden McMahan, Renner, Bruin, and Collins Duong, and Brecken Holt. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment with them.
Nancy's sister, Sherry Grower, preceded her in death, leaving behind memories of sisterly love and shared laughter. She is survived by her niece, Stacy Silliman, who will miss her aunt's guidance and warmth.
Nancy's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in novels set in Italy, past projects of needlepoint, crocheting, and scrapbooking—each stitch and page a testament to her creativity and attention to detail. Her flair for decorating, party, and holiday planning made her home a hub of celebration and togetherness. Nancy's zest for life was evident in her never-ending home improvement initiatives and her constant desire to travel. Carmel-by-the-Sea in California held a special place in her heart, where the seaside sunrises and sunsets brought her immeasurable peace and happiness.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her as loving, kind, and generous. She was inherently nurturing, and her concern for her loved ones' happiness and security never wavered. Her leadership, guidance, support, and generosity were the pillars upon which many relied. Nancy's ability to listen and offer attention when it mattered most made her a confidante and friend to all.
Nancy's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love and care for her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her unwavering love and kindness.
