Norma Torrez

Norma Torrez entered the gates of Heaven on February 8, 2022 at just 55 years old. She married Rene Torrez on September 23, 2000 and welcomed their amazing son, Anthony Torrez, in 2002. Together they built a life they loved.

Norma was born on October 29, 1966 in Lubbock, TX to Lola Salas and Pete Corrales. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in May of 1984 and went on to earn an Associate’s degree in Interior Design from South Plains College in 1986. Norma’s smile could light up any room, and her laugh was contagious. She was patient, kind, and loving. With the heart of gold she had, Norma always made sure all of her loved ones were happy, healthy, and cared for. She enjoyed baking, watching movies and spending time with family.

Norma worked at Goodman Elementary as the clerk for 16 years where she helped register students and was the 1st welcoming face that the families over the years met. She helped in so many ways and built relationships with the families she served. Norma loved her school family and kids more than we know.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rene Torrez and son, Anthony Torrez of Grand Prairie, TX. Parents: Roy and Lola Salas, and Pete and Rachel Corrales all of Lubbock, TX. Siblings: Christina and husband Ernest Arredondo of Lubbock, Patricia Lopez of Lubbock, Domingo and wife Kendra Ybarra of Grand Prairie, TX. Sylvia Urrutia, Robert and wife Stella Urrutia of Lubbock, Diane Urrutia of Rockwall, TX. Robert and Ricky Salas both of Lubbock. As well as an abundance of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who all love her and will miss her terribly.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Torrez. Her brothers, Paul Corrales and Steve Urrutia. Maternal grandparents, Jose and Matilde Cortez. Paternal grandparents, Nativida & Empidia Corrales.

A rosary for Norma will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A visitation will occur Friday, March 4, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 4, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A committal service will occur Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
