June 12, 1926 - August 28, 2018
Ora June Fulton, of Grand Prairie, Texas, went peacefully at sunrise to be with our Lord August 28, 2018 at 92 years of age. She was born June 12, 1926 in Freemont, Nebraska to the late Arthur (A.P.) and Edna Norton. At age five, she and her family moved to Texas and settled in the Temple / Cameron area of central Texas. She attended Temple High School, where she met the love of her life, David Fulton. They married during WWII at age 18. During the next 40 years she had 5 children, and worked at LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie. She worked her way up from Clerk, to Executive Secretary, to Procurement Buyer over a 40-year career. June was a great employee and really enjoyed working, and made a lot of lifelong friendships there. Her positive attitude was contagious and she was well-liked. She always believed in pushing yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit, and that played out in her career at work and in her private life as well. June liked to have fun and kid around, but she also took life seriously and made the best use of her time, planning out her days and living out her life in a manner that was to be admired and applauded. She did not let any “moss” grow under her feet for sure!
June loved God and her family more than anything, and her life centered around them. She faithfully attended The Woods United Methodist church as long as her health would allow. She and David were charter members at the church and previously were members at Trailwood Methodist. June taught Sunday School, was in the choir, the bell choir, and also represented the church at the Yearly Methodist Convention several times. She inspired others as a Bible Study Fellowship leader for 12 years. She loved to do Bible Study on her own at home as well, and passed on her faith to her family and friends.
June loved all adventures, great and small, as long as they were with family or friends. No matter where they were going or what they were doing, she wanted to be there! Hunting for antiques at Round Top to sell at her booth, hitting the slot machines at Winstar, celebrating her 80th in Las Vegas, shopping at the mall with her daughter until closing time, climbing 270 steps to the top of Sacre Coeur to view all of Paris, vacationing in Cozumel with her entire family, taking in the play Jonah and the Whale with her daughter-in-law in Branson, road tripping from Dallas to Kentucky and everywhere in-between, attending school events and recitals for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing 42 with family until the wee hours, stocking up on too many groceries at Sam’s Club with David, reading every night and crosswording every morning.
June was the sweetest and most loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend, a mentor, a leader, an example, a protector, cheerful, silly, kind, thoughtful, and a lady. June had friends from every walk of life, never met a stranger or had a bad word to say about anyone, loved children, animals, birds, and flowers, and was overwhelmingly generous to others. Above all else, she was loved. We know when the Lord welcomed June to heaven, he told her, "well done my faithful servant."
June’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children Janis (Rocky) Potter, Stephen (Sheilagh) Fulton, Brent (Joyce) Fulton, Robert (Teresa) Fulton, and Sean (Shanna) Fulton, brother Kent (June) Norton, sister Marilyn (Don) King, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of devoted family and friends.
June was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, David, mother Edna Norton, father Arthur Pearle Norton, mother-in-law Martha Fulton, father-in-law Willie Fulton, sisters Vonnie Weed, Dickie Thrush, Ruth Turner and Norma Carter, brothers Ross Norton and Verne Norton, daughter-in-law Sheilagh Fulton, and grandson Mark Fulton.
The Family wishes to thank the Staff of Meadowbrook Memory Care for the loving care they gave our Mother over the last nine months.
