My dear children try not to be sad. Death means I have only slipped into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, we still are. Call me by my old familiar names, Mother, Mom, Granny, Grandma Polly and Grandma. I seemed to be different to each of you and I loved it. My son’s dear wives called me Polly and I loved it. It made me feel less ancient. Laugh like we always did, even at me – you know I did some pretty stupid things. Get together, play, smile and think of me. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it always was. We are still family. Why should I be out of your minds just because I am out of your sight? I will be waiting for you, for an interval very near, just around the corner. All is well, nothing is passed, nothing has been lost. One brief moment and it will be as it was before – only better. We will all be one together forever.
