

Perry Wayne Smith passed away June 4, 2014. He was born November 3, 1950 in Brownwood, TX to Thomas and Maxine Smith. Perry grew up in Grand Prairie, TX and in 1968 graduated from Grand Prairie High School. After graduation he attended Arlington State University (currently UTA) were he received his Bachelors of Business Administration degree while working full time.Perry was a child at heart with an adventurous nature. He enjoyed spending time and having fun with his children at Six Flags, going to arcades and being a foodie. He was very proud to say he ate at almost every restaurant in the DFW metroplex. He was very active in his church as a young man and a loyal Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers sports fan. He was by no means a morning person and even though he may have been late he always made time for family. He could be considered strong-willed and very compassionate. He took wonderful care of his parents and grandparents, calling his mother almost every day. Perry was talkative with a great sense of humor. He loved to spend time with his family it didn’t matter what they were doing as long as they were together. Perry was also an avid reader with a large thirst for knowledge.
He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Smith.Perry is survived by his children; Anna Smith and husband Patrick, Jacob Smith, Joseph Smith, James Smith, mother Maxine Smith, brother Sam Smith and wife Debbie, sister Sheilah Lackey and husband Jimmy, longtime companion Sheila Rivers and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Del Angel Funeral Home from 5-7pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie at 11 am. Interment will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
