Robert Lee Hembree, 99, passed away October 8, 2014. He was born June 21, 1915 to Alley Brown Hembree and Rosa Lee Bagley in Sidney, Texas.. Robert served in World War II. He was at D-Day and received the EAME Campaign Medal with 7 Bronze Stars, 1 Bronze Star Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, AMerican Defense Service Medal, and the Bronze Service Medal. Robert worked in the Potash Mines in New Mexico for 21 years. He moved to Grand Prairie in 1968 where he worked as a machinist at LTV. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX.
He is survived by, his wife of 65 years, Viola Frances Hembree; son, Bob Hembree and wife Donna; daughter, Paula Calvert and husband Mark; son, Tommy Hembree; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie Building Fund in memory of Robert Lee Hembree.
Visitation is 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, October 13, 2014 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie.
Committal Service: 12:30 pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
