Rodolfo Martinez, born October 1, 1920 met his Maker, Lord and Savior at the age of 98 on May 2, 2019. He lived a long, full life surrounded by family and friends. Born in Mexico, he came to Dallas in the 1950's on a whim from a song he heard on the radio about how great Dallas was. He found a job as a dishwasher, moved up to butcher helper then to cook. He retired in the late 1970's as an Executive Chef at a prestigious hotel. He fulfilled his dream and opened his own "Rudy's Soup & Sandwich Shop". After closing his business, he spent the next 30 years travelling from Dallas to Mexico enjoying time with family and friends.

He was infamous for his cooking, sense of humor and his animated way of telling jokes. He was a man of faith, always happy and positive. He was always there to lend a hand or give advice.

He quoted his secret to living a long healthy life was faith, family, sense of humor, daily glass of wine, lots of naps and living life one day at a time.

He leaves behind 2 brothers Beto and Pedro Lara; 4 sons, Rodolfo Jr., Ruben, Rogelio and Rene Martinez; 3 daughters, Maria Hernandez, MaryAnn Cavello and Frances Jimenez; 22 grandkids, 51 great grandkids and 9 great great grandkids; and many more close family and friends.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 8th from 5-9 pm, rosary from 8-9 pm at Grand Prairie Funeral Home 733 Dalworth Grand Prairie, Tx 75050. Per his wishes, he will be buried in his hometown in Mexico.
