She was born January 10, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Velma Lee Lacefield and Hershel H. Harris. Ty was also preceded in death by her great aunt and uncle, Eatheline and Albert Lee, who raised her after the death of her mother and two young siblings (Tammy Lee Deal & Ty Allister Deal) in a tragic car accident. She is also preceded in death by her brother Gregory Allen Harris and her husband Ross Mabey.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Tara Seely (Justin) of College Station, TX, and Chelsey Rustenhaven (Randy) of Mansfield, TX. The adored Nana to Slade, Sydney and Shelby Seely and Rhett and Raelyn Rustenhaven. Cherished partner to Walter Kemp of Ovilla, TX, and sister of Jamie Deal Yanca of Akron, OH. Ty leaves behind her beloved dogs, Yogi Bear and Turbo, who will miss her so much.
Ty had the most infectious laugh and smile. She was filled with light and love and made the best out of each day given. She was a strong woman determined to find joy in life and spread it to everyone around her, a trait she instilled in her daughters. She loved wholeheartedly, and never met a stranger who stayed a stranger for long. That love extended to animals that she helped and cared for throughout her life. She loved God and treated each day as a gift. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as "Nana" and never missed an opportunity to be around her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them, cheer them on, and wrap her arms around them.
While Ty faced many hardships and tragedies throughout her life, she always turned to her faith in God and found the good in each day and in each person. She had the most giving heart and was always willing to help others any way she could. She will be remembered for loving the Dallas Cowboys, supporting her family at the ballpark, grilling out, spending time at the pool, camping, writing and reading poetry, watching her birds through cameras, and sharing photos of them. She delighted in wandering through thrift shops, always discovering little treasures that brought her joy. She wore vibrant colors and loved accessorizing. She had a fun sense of humor and added her own flare to outfits, sometimes even including fun wigs of all kinds. She loved candles, collected inspirational quotes, and found the scenery of Colorado especially beautiful, going there many times to camp.
She worked as an orthodontic assistant for North Texas Orthodontist Association for 19 years and loved what she did. She was a seasoned staff member and a valuable resource to her co-workers. She loved her patients and getting to know them while she worked on their braces. They would frequently request her because of her warm and welcoming spirit and kind heart.
Her greatest legacy is the children and grandchildren she leaves behind, as well as the love and kindness she showed to everyone she met. She impacted so many along her life and led others to Christ with her unwavering joy for the Lord and a life lived to the fullest. She always said, "It's not goodbye, it's see you later," and gave the biggest hugs when she left you. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
