Timoteo Aguirre Rodriguez was born June 13, 1944 in Pettus, TX. Affectionately known to his family, friends, and loved ones as “Timo”, passed away peacefully in his sleep and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, September 21, 2019.
Raised on a farm in Taft, Texas until he graduated from Taft High School in 1965. During his life on the farm in Taft, he raised pigs, chickens and other animals to compete at Future Farmers of America and picked cotton in the fields. He would work long hours on the fields from morning until dusk picking cotton. Winning first prize for his pig he raised for competition, which his Uncle Merced provided as a gift. His father taught him how to work hard to earn a living.
After high school, Timo tried different occupations to include construction, cement, and delivery boy for an imported car lot in Corpus Christi. Invited by his cousin to visit the cosmetology school, the owner offered a grant to attend and he accepted the offer. He completed the courses, passed the State Board examination in Austin and obtained his cosmetology license.
In 1967, Timo moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and Ling Temco Vought Aerospace Company (LTV) hired him. During this time, he received his draft notice for the United State Army. Basic training was in Fort Polk, Louisiana and then went to Germany. While in Germany, he spent training on how to repair and operate tanks. While in another country, he befriended many fellow soldiers from across the United States. After the Army, Timo returned to his position at LTV.
On October 18, 1969, Timo married Elia Ramos at Holy Family Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He met his wife prior to entering the Army and within two months of his return from the Army, they married. In 1970, their first child was born Monica Christina and Timo Jr. was born in 1972, with the youngest child born in 1977, Juan Gabriel “Gabe”. His family was his pride and joy, enjoying years of happiness. Instilling in his children the need for an education and helping others, but doing so while not forgetting where you started.
While working Timo received his Associate degree from Mountain View College in 1976 utilizing his GI Bill. After several decades he returned to school for his bachelor’s degree. He was a graduate from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX with a Bachelor of Business Studies in 2006. He worked with Vought for over 39 years; many co-workers will miss him.
Timo enjoyed all sports, cars, home repairs, and gardening. Most of all soccer was a major influence in his and the lives of his children. He coached and played soccer. He coached his daughter’s soccer team for over 8 years, which they received many trophies and most of all skills on offense and defense to use during soccer and their everyday lives. Mostly, teaching his girls to be aggressive and assertive, to control the game and win. The biggest lesson was how to work together as a team to defeat the opponent.
Timo took pride in being a confidant, mentor and big brother/father/friend to all. He loved his family and looked forward to the July 4th holiday to attend the family reunion. He was always ready to tell a joke or funny story, wanting to make everyone laugh and pass along the humor.
His passion was family and friends gathering to enjoying each other to cherish the moments of life. He encouraged everyone to get along and make peace with each other. He valued education and would advise to obtain his/her degree no matter how long it took.
Timo was a member of the St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church. He shared his beliefs and faith in his movements throughout his life. Assisting his wife during the funeral luncheons to setup and clean after the family gathered for remembrance. Praying daily for his family and friends health and for those who have lost love ones, his faith guided his life. He believed with God’s will, he would succeed in all things he was involved.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Andrea Rodriguez; son, Timoteo Rodriguez, Jr.; grandson Lionel Timo Judah Rodriguez; and brother Samuel Rodriguez.
