Trecia Hughes Upchurch peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on July 7, 2026. She was born on January 26, 1960, and grew up in Irving, Texas. Trecia was the youngest daughter of Billy Joe and Gwendolyn Hughes.
Trecia is survived by her loving husband, Paul Upchurch; her children, Jessica Upchurch Daniel (Brian Daniel), Jake Upchurch (Kinsey Upchurch), and Paul Upchurch, Jr. (Stefani Upchurch); her daughter-in-law, Amber Upchurch; alone with the grandchildren, Troy, Bryson, Hadley, Keizer, Audrey, and Kadence, who were truly the light of her life. Being "Mimi" was her favorite role. She loved making memories with her grandchildren, spoiling them often, and cheering them on in all of their activities. She made every moment with them special.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Trecia's greatest joy in life was the people she loved. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Paul, and together they built a family rooted in love. She was an important part of helping Paul build a successful company. This past February, they celebrated 42 years together.
With her vibrant spirit, she enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas, where she could often be found playing slot machines. She also loved music, painting, playing bingo, and cherishing time with friends and family. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time as a family watching Jake race dirt track. Shopping and movie dates with Jessica were special moments they shared together. Trecia found joy in the simple moments spent together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Joe Hughes and Gwendolyn Hughes; her siblings, Alicia Allen, Marcia Owen, and Bryan Hughes; and her son, David Upchurch.
Trecia displayed remarkable strength and courage in the face of illness, she continued to show love and resilience. While cancer may have taken her earthly body, it never took her spirit. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the memories and the unconditional love she gave to all.
