William Hiestand, 88, of Grand Prairie, TX passed away January 2, 2014. He was born April 7, 1925 in Columbia, PA to William Henry and Anna Hiestand.He grew up in Pennsylvania and while he was attending Reading High School he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp. He served for 2 years in WWII before leaving the military in July of 1945. On the G.I Bill he earned his diploma in 1946. On September 28 1946, just a few months after he was honorably discharge, William married Mary Dziki. They lived in Reading, Pa for some time and then lived in several other states before settling down in Texas. Around 1985 they finally ended up in Grand Prairie.William enjoyed trying new things. He dabbled in many different hobbies, such as painting and writing. He also liked trains of all kinds, reading and traveling. He didn’t have any particular destination he just like to get up and go, exploring new and exciting places. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Anna, son William Randolf Hiestand.He is survived by his wife Mary Hiestand, daughters Susan Hiestand, Victoria Duff; grandsons William Rusty Hiestand, Joshua Hiestand; granddaughter Chelsea Lynnette Duff; great-grandchildren Randy Payton Hiestand and Kallie Jean Hiestand.
