Alain R Simard

Alain (Pic) Simard, aged 57, of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at his home following a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Aline and Robert Simard. Surviving are his wife of 9 years, Linda (Leech); his daughter, Nathalie (Francois) Simard; stepchildren, Doug (Jenn) MacDonald, David (Sandy) MacDonald, Karen (Donald) MacDonald-Law, Daniel (Maggie) MacDonald; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Anthony, Emilie, Olivier, Andrea and Amanda; sisters and brother, Rejean (Jeannine Parent) Simard, Denise (Yves Gosselin) Simard, Danielle Simard, Diane (Albert Rosa) Simard, Marie-France (Real Cloutier) Simard, Nicole Simard, nieces and nephews. Alain was the proud owner of Pic's Flooring Plus, and he loved to fish, watch wrestling on TV and a big fan of hockey. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Reyers North Valley Chapel with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet his family at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Kent County.
