Alan Geldhof

Alan was born on August 22, 1937, at 1223 Penn St. NE in Grand Rapids to Adrian and Julia (Merrifield) Geldhof. He went to Eastern Elementary School and attended Creston High School. After high school he worked several jobs before becoming a factory worker at Rowe AMI in Grand Rapids where he retired after 46 years. HE was active in the Union and was a Steward and President of IUE Local 981.

Alan and his wife, Vicki moved to Merritt Island, Florida in 2004 and returned to Grand Rapids in 2016.

Alan lived a good life. It had its ups and downs, but he considered himself to be blessed and was a happy person. He loved his family and cherished the many friendships he made during his life.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joan Marie Geldhof; sisters Betty Jane Geldhof and Dorie Stovall; brother-in-law Howard M. Stovall; his beloved son-in-law Dave Wagenborg; nephew Dennis C. Stovall. He is survived by his wife and soulmate Vicki; his daughters Brenda Lavengood, Bonnie (Mark) Rabideau, Barb Wagenborg, Beth Geldhof, Bobbi (Phil) Schaafsma; son Richard "Buf" (Danielle) Geldhof; step-son Jason Frazee; nephew Howard L. Stovall; nieces Debbie Sweeny and Pamela Stovall; and 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2510 Richmond St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the Church. Because of his love for the MSU Spartans, the family would love to see everyone wear Green and White.
