Arthur Lee Goossen, aged 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was born March 19, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI to Ralph and Verna Goossen. He was preceded in death by wife of 25 years, Mary Jane as well as his sisters Susan (Lou) Wagner and Eloise (Orville) Vanderzaan. Arthur is survived by his longtime companion of 17 years Elaine Snyder; children, Richard, Laurie, Jay (Melissa), and Peter (Aline) as well as 8 grandchildren and his sister Marilyn Wessel. Art graduated from Creston High School in 1956 and served in the Army from 1964-1966. He was a proud employee for 34 years at the 36th St. General Motors Plant working as a master electrician. Art was also a member of the American Legion Post #47 were he was a bingo volunteer. He also was a member and officer with the General Motors Credit Union and was a member of the supervisory committee. Art was an avid golfer and longtime member at the Scott Lake Country Club. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 21 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel with interment following at Fairplains Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with family at the chapel from 5-8 PM Wednesday as well as an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers family has asked that you consider a donation in Arthur’s name to Rest Haven Homes, (1424 Union Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505).
