Artisha Barbara (Ambrosiewicz) Makarewicz, age 85 of Grand Rapids, entered peacefully into eternal life on Monday, December 16, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Makarewicz; devoted mother of Artisha (Kevin) O’Rourke, the late Gerard (Tamara) Makarewicz; Tony Makarewicz; Scott (Sharon) Makarewicz; loving grandmother of K.C. (Kellin) O’Rourke, Sean (Katie) O’Rourke and Molly O’Rourke, Michelle (fianc’e Jason Zylstra) and Allison Makarewicz, Erika and Chad Makarewicz, A.J., Austin, Alec and Aaron Makarewicz; great grandmother of Lleyton, Lucy and Callie O’Rourke; sister of Wanda (the late Clement) Stanek; aunt, great aunt and cousin of many. She will be lovingly and dearly missed by her family, lifelong friends and loyal Rosary Prayer Group of “The Ladies” who selflessly devote many hours of each day to praying for everyone’s special intentions. Artisha was employed full-time for nearly four decades at American Box Board and Spring Co., Leon Chemical and Plastics, General Motors. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 50 years. She enjoyed with all her heart cheering for every grandchild in their favorite sport or talent from the top bleacher (best seat in the place). She was the “Nana” who would get right into playing catch or a ballgame with her naturally gifted grandchildren. Her generosity of time and tithing was one of her many living legacies in addition to her faithful prayer life. Lastly, Mom may not have always liked the cold weather in Michigan, but she loved her penguin collection and has given her grandsons from Florida a final gift of their first ever snowfall experience in Michigan this weekend. You can meet with family at Reyers North Valley Chapel, Thurs., Dec. 19, 2013, from 7-9:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, from 3-5:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. An additional visition will be held on Sat., Dec., 21 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2275 Diamond Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI, from 10:00 a.m. to time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
