

Birdie worked for 14 years at Rockford Carbonal, and then went on to retire from Hadley Manufacturing. She enjoyed spending time 'Up North' in Cheboygan at her sister's cottage, and taking trips to visit Rose and Martha at their cottage in Mt. Pleasant. In her free time, you could find Birdie at the casino, playing games with her family, or dancing to Hispanic music. Birdie loved living life to the fullest, and her bright spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Birdie was preceded in death by: father, Antonio Paiz; mother, Ermalinda Paiz; and daughter, Ana Carrillo.
Birdie is survived by: life partner, Christy Tanis; daughter, Melinda (Juan) Gomez; sons, John Anthony (Shannon Britt) Carrillo, and Gabriel (Whoopdi Gomez) Carrillo; step-daughter, Amanda Inderbitzin; step-son, Ricky (Rhonda) Tanis; 12 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Manuelita Alfaro, Margarita (Thomas) Martin, Rosie (Joe) Altamira, and Eva (Lonnie) Rocha; brothers, Antonio (Yolanda) Paiz Jr., David (Debbie) Paiz, and Toribio (Mary Jane) Paiz; as well as, several nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family.
A Funeral Service for Birdie will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 am at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE. Grand Rapids, MI 49505. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of the service.
