Bryan Robert Ensing

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan Robert Ensing, 52, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bryan found peace on June 27, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones after a determined and courageous battle with cancer. He brought joy to everyone he met, and his quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed. His family was always his priority, and his devotion to them shaped the quiet strength of his life.

Bryan began his career with Kent County working in the Kent County Sheriff’s Department before moving to the courts, where he had the honor of working for several Judges in the Kent County Circuit Court, serving with dedication and integrity for 26 years before retiring in 2020. His commitment to his work and to others earned him a sterling reputation, one he carried with humility and pride.

Bryan’s life is remembered with love by his devoted wife, Melissa; his children, Mary, Nicklas, and Emily; his mother and stepfather, Debra and Gary Heinzelman; his sister, April Swanson; and brother-in-law, Tim Kraai; father-in-law Jim Hanrahan; his father, Donald Swanson (Terri).

He is also survived by his nieces, Karissa Swanson and Ellyanna Kraai; his nephews, Devin Collier, Avery Kraai, and Ayden Kraai, Trent Wilson; his great-nieces and great-nephew; and his step siblings, Lacey Heinzelman; Dulcey White; Adam Heinzelman; Uncle, Michael Ensing; his Aunt Nancy (Rob) Johnson; Aunt Denise (Jim) Carlson; cousins Steve (Kim) Johnson, Doug Johnson, and Jeff (Elizabeth) Johnson; dear friend and neighbor, Pam Titus. He also leaves his lifelong childhood friends, Joe Selbach (Rochelle); Tyson (Beth) Moore; Jamie (Maria) Schultz.

Bryan was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Christine Kraai; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Robert and Mary Ensing; and Uncle Ron Ditmar.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bryan’s life on July 10th, 2026 at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall, 1753 Alpine NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M.
