He enjoyed golfing, skiing and photography but was truly a family man and avid University of Michigan fan, GO BLUE! He was also a long standing member of the GR Y’s Men’s Club. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Charles Aldridge Sr., and by his wife of 58 years Catherine Ann Aldridge. Surviving are children; Mary (Brian) Macomber, Charles “Chuck” (Susanne) Aldridge III, and Jeanne (Larry) Maher. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Chris (Erica) Macomber, Jon Macomber, Sara (Ben) Merritt, Lisa (Tyler) Funk, Michael Maher, one great-grandchild Lyra Macomber, his brother Lincoln Aldridge, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday August 22, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1025 Three Mile Rd. N.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505. Please join his family for visitation at the church on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm and again prior to the service on Thursday from 4:30-6:00pm. My sympathy to all the families. He worked in the same building when I first went to Grand Rapids, and also delivered my first child. He was a wonderful doctor.

Mary, Jeannie, and Chick, Your dad was a kind and gentle man. I do not know where the "Kissin Cousin" thing came from, but that is always how I thought about him. A hug and a smile and a kiss. So sorry to hear about your loss.

Chuck was a friendly, helpful member of our YMCA Service Club for many, many years. A past president, we couldn't have had a more loyal member. When he was older and could no longer attend, he was made an 'emeritus' member. He loved kids.

I have in my office the beautiful picture that Uncle Chuck took of my family back in the early 70's and I cherish it. I am proud to say that I am named after Uncle Chuck's wife Aunt Kate! They are together once again and they held a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers to you all.
