Daniel Gordon Brundige, age 53, devoted husband, Dad, Papa and friend passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2022. Dan was born in Grand Rapids, the youngest child and only son of Ralph & Madonna (Manning) Brundige.
As a young boy, Dan developed a love of sports especially baseball. While attending the Comstock Park schools, he played both football and baseball. His passion for baseball lasted his lifetime. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays, and enjoyed many White Caps games.
After graduating from Comstock Park High School, he began working for Steelcase. He spent over 30 years as a CNC operator for the company.
With the invention of social media, Dan reconnected with his childhood crush, Julie. On their first outing they went to dinner with a group of friends and by the end of the night, their love affair had begun. One evening, the couple attended a White Caps game and during the Kiss Cam, they zoomed in on Dan down on one knee with the screen flashing “Will you marry me?”, Julie surprised by her shy guy’s major proposal, she immediately said “Yes!” The love that Dan showed to Julie coined her nickname for him “My Charming”, and they formalized their love with wedding vows on May 10, 2019.
Next to baseball and playing practical jokes, woodworking was Dan’s favorite hobby. A talented artist, Dan’s home is filled with his creations turned priceless keepsakes. In 2013, he was selected to showcase his artwork at Art Prize.
With Julie came two sons, and eventually two daughter-in-laws and two granddaughters making Dan’s heart and family complete. Dan was a quiet gentle soul and will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him.
Dan is survived by his wife Julie; his sons Joe (Cassidy) Tolhurst and Jeff (Cristina) Tolhurst; his granddaughters Adalyn & Eleanor; his sisters: Sue (Glenn) Holecheck, Barbara Brundige and Mary (Bruce) Brandimore; his brother-in-laws: Bob (Kathy) Hillebrand, Steve (Michelle) Hillebrand and Karl Alderink; his nieces and nephews: Sara (David) Repogle, Lisa (Marco) Sanchez, Donna (Royce) Rodriguez, James (Ruth) Brundige, Robert Brundige, Dana (Toliver) Roebuck, Leslie (Anthony) DeNardis, Steven Hillebrand, Johnathan Hillebrand and Racquel (Daniel) White and his mini dachshund, Millie as well as many other relatives. He preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law Lynne Alderink and his nephew Andrew Hillebrand.
Visitation for Dan will be held on Sunday August 14, 2022 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Comstock Park, where the family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.
