David was a graduate of West Catholic High School and went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Aquinas College. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following his favorite teams. He also loved to travel, taking the family on several trips out west to the Big Horn mountains and beyond. He continued enjoying travel later in life taking trips with his friends through Canada, to New Mexico and more. Known for his great sense of humor, David had a way of making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him. His humor, warmth, and personality will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
David was very active in St. Alphonsus supporting his kids by coaching several teams including baseball, basketball and most notably football where he coached the 5th and 6th grade team for many years. He announced basketball games where his sense of humor kept players and fans engaged and entertained, most notable was his love of giving players fun nicknames.
David is survived by his children, Nancy (Ruggs), Ryan (Michelle), and Holly; his brother, Gerald; and his beloved grandchildren, Griffin and Connor Sheldon, and their father Mike, Christian, Audrey, Samuel and Elise Cote; Austin, Jackson and Ainsley Trzybinski.
David was preceded in death by his son Joseph; mother, Rose; his father, Stephen; his brothers, Arnold and Donald; and his sister, Margaret. David was previously married to Jeanne Southland (deceased), the mother of their four children.
His laughter, warmth, and love will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday October 10, 2026, at Reyers North Valley Chapel with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Beacon Hill employee scholarship fund. These employees supported and became good friends of David over the years. The American Red Cross is another charity of meaning to David, who was proud of his high lifetime donation.
