

Debra Ann (Smith) Meyerholtz passed to her new life on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Born on September 24, 1951 to Robert and Eleanor (Ellie) Smith, Deb grew up on the west side of Grand Rapids with her siblings Thom and Lynn. Originally a member of St. James Catholic Church, she attended the school there for eight years, later graduating from Mount Mercy High School in 1969 and Grand Rapids Junior College. Her first job was at Mount Mercy in the kitchen and later worked for the Canteen Corporation. She especially loved her time in the medical library at St. Mary’s Hospital. For the last twenty-nine years, she was employed at D&W working mainly at the customer service desk at the Beckwith and Gaslight stores. In addition to this job, she also worked at the DeVos Place in the Grand Center. She loved collecting, shopping, attending sporting events and visiting Frankenmuth. Most of all she loved her family who will miss her greatly. Preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ellie (Cordes) Smith and her in-laws, Carl and Lorraine (Steiner) Meyerholtz along with several brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, and other relatives, she is survived by her husband Pete Meyerholtz, children Andrew (Shelley), Amy and Sarah Meyerholtz along with stepson Peter (Stacey) Meyerholtz and their children Arthur and Abigayle. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Br. Thom Smith o.f.m. and sister Lynn (David) Houghton and a long list of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation will be on Monday, December 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave. N.E. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier N.E. with visitation beginning one hour before.
