Dennis H. Scarbrough

Dennis H. Scarbrough, aged 73 of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Scarbrough of Cadillac, Doug Scarbrough of Chicago, IL., Chuck Scarbrough of Copemish,Gene Scarbrough of Muskegon. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Roberta "Bobbie" (Anderson) Scarbrough; His children, Kathy and Michael Lutley of Grand Rapids, Dee Dee and Eric Newberg of Thompsonville, MI., Phil and Beth Scarbrough of Marne, Russell Sr. and Cindy Scarbrough of Grand Rapids. Grandchildren, Erin (Evan) Raden, Josh (Natalie) Parker, Ross Scarbrough, Bryan, Ellen, and Kevin Lutley, Ann, Gail Newberg, Russell Jr., and Mackenzie Scarbrough; Step grandchildren, Renee (Destin) Pewitt, Gary (Tara) Laug, and his great grandchild, Abigail Parker. His siblings, Gwen Porter of Benzonia, John Scarbrough of Ann Arbor, Fred (Karen) Scarbrough of Traverse City, L.D. Scarbrough of Copemish, Tom Scarbrough of Muskegon, Bill Scarbrough of Hart, Joyce (Jim) MacGirr of Thompsonville, sister-in-law, Alice Scarbrough of Copemish, brother-in-law, Dale (Nita) Anderson of Michigan City, IN. His nephew and friend, Richard (Dora) Scarbrough, many other special nieces, nephews, and friends. Dennis was born to parents John Robert and Malvina Olive (Priest) Scarbrough in Copemish, Michigan, graduated from Copemish High School, served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959, retired from the Grand Rapids Home For Veterans after 30 years, was a greatful member of A.A. for 32 years, loved to hunt, fish, was a woodworking artist, and enjoyed watching baseball and football. He was a man who dedicated his life to his family. He will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Reyers North Valley Chapel. Interment will follow in Fairplains Cemetery. If you would like to pay your respects to Dennis, please visit the chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
