

Donald Mitchell Kidwell, aged 90, passed away on June 19, 2012. Born, October 18, 1921 in Allegan, Michigan to Mitchell and Caroline Kidwell, he was the sixth of seven children. He attended Blackman School through 8th grade, and Allegan High School through 10th grade, having quit to help on the farm. He did return to school later in life finally graduating in 1970. Donald proudly served his country with the United States Army, Company D, 126th Infantry, 32nd Red Arrow Division, and was stationed throughout the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal along with other medals for his service, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Allegan, Michigan. Donald married Pearl Belgraph in 1946 and they bore seven children; Carol Hopson, Donald R, Judy Thomas, Dawn Berner, Basil, Theresa (d. at birth), and Patrick (d. 2009). Pearl passed away in 1973, and Donald met and married Rita Lehmoine in June of 1973. Rita’s children are Randel Lemoine, Renee Emelander, Ray Lehmoine and Rachelle Collier. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Burnips United Methodist Church, 4237 30th Street, Burnips, MI 49314.
