

Doris M. Miller, age 88, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Faith Hospice. She was born July 20, 1922, in Grand Rapids to Earl and Alyda (Abel) Schuhardt. After graduating from Union High School, she received an ÅÅ degree from Grand Rapids Junior College in 1941. She married Donald E. Miller in 1944 In Boise, Idaho, where he was stationed with the Army Air Corps. After the war they made their home in Grand Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1975. She worked in the offices of the Kent County Child Guidance Clinic for many years in several capacities, including office manager. After retiring she continued to work for a few years for the Clinic part time, and also for Catholic Social Services. Since her retirement she has been a member of the M. C. Blodgett Hospital Guild for many years, serving as president, vice president, and board member. She was an avid reader, loved her garden, and was an excellent bridge player. She is survived by her sons, Donald B. (Julie) Miller of Grosse Pointe, Mi, and Jeffery Miller of Grand Rapids; and also by grandchildren, Paul (Danna) and Marcie Miller, and Katherine, Matthew, and Mark Miller; as well as a greatgrandchild, Nathan. She is also mourned by a sister, Joann McClure of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Lucille Thomas; special family member and mother of Paul and Marcie, Mary Miller; her caring neighbor, Marta Sutthorp and her family, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
