Dorothy Awanda Reidt

Born on May 29, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Anthony and Dorothy (Driver) Witte.

Dorothy's greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to creating a home filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Whether hosting gatherings along the Grand River, enjoying boating and camping adventures, or simply spending time together, she believed life's greatest blessings were found in the moments shared with those you love.

She dedicated many years of service as a quality control inspector at American Metals, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.

In 1971, she married her lifelong friend and the love of her life, Joseph "Joe" Reidt. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, filled with laughter, unwavering love, and a shared passion for dancing. From ballroom and square dancing to clogging, they found joy in every step and created countless memories with family and friends.

Dorothy was known for her impeccable sense of style, her love of fashion, beautiful crystal, and discovering hidden "pretties" while shopping. Proudly calling herself a diva, she brought elegance, warmth, and sparkle wherever she went, lighting up every room with her radiant smile.

Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in every family gathering, every dance, every laugh, and every cherished memory shared by those fortunate enough to know and love her.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Joseph "Joe" Reidt; her daughter, Debra (Donald) Yeakey; her daughter-in-law, Dotty Parish; her son-in-law, James Powers; her grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; her faithful bulldog, Bunny; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her children, Frederick Parish, Diane Powers and Dorthea Watkins; her brother, Tony (Barb) Witte; and her parents.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy's remarkable life on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave., NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Lunch will be served following the service.

Though she will be deeply missed, Dorothy's love, grace, and vibrant spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
