Dorothy E. Stone

Dorothy E. Stone, age 92, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Mrs. Stone was born on April 2, 1920, in Homestead, PA; grew up in Pittsburgh, and graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. Dorothy taught kindergarten and 3rd grade in the Godwin Heights Public School System in Wyoming, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reynard Stone; daughter, Marjorie Stone Edson; sisters, Katherine Goeddel Cosgrove and Naomi Goeddel Howard. Surviving is a daughter, Christine Stone Payne of Union City, CA; granddaughters, Renee Payne of Santa Barbara, CA, and Kimberly Payne of San Luis Obispo, CA; niece, Leslie Howard Pool and great-niece, Emily Pool, both of Austin; nephew, Rev. Donald (Rachele) Howard of Van Buren Point, NY, and great-nieces Rebecca Howard of Colorado and Carrie (Adam) Riddle of Virginia.

Memorial services in celebration of the life of Dorothy will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Heron Manor Chapel, 3rd floor, 2106 Leonard St., Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Donald Howard officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday at Heron Manor Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers, Michigan.
