Edward R. Hansen

Edward R. Hansen, aged 95, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Edward was born May 4, 1919 in Douglas Township, Michigan to the late Hazel and Peter Hansen. He is also preceded by his wife of 36 years Vera, and 2 brothers Orville and Frank Hansen. Edward is survived by his children, Maxine (Charles) Reck, Mark (Nancy) Hansen, Rex (Linda) Hansen; his 9 grandchildren Chuck Reck, Carin Speidel, Corey Reck, Molly Bigford, Erin Borton, Megan Hansen, Alyson Peterson; and 9 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way. He is also survived by his 2 sisters Aletha Marquette and Donna Edwards, as well as his brother Leo “Bing” Hansen. Edward attended and graduated from McBride High School in 1937. He soon after served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. After his service ended in 1945, Edward married Vera F. Campbell in Vincennes, Indiana. Edward also took pride in his work. He held positions with the state as a corrections officer and a driver improvement analyst. Edward will be remembered for his hobby and passion of wood working; but also his love and loyalty as a fan to the Tigers, which he passed down through his family. Please join Edward’s family for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 10:00-11:30am at Reyers North Valley Chapel with the funeral service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either Spectrum Health Hospice or the Northlawn United Methodist Church.
