Evelyn Johana Stegehuis Vance

Evelyn Johana Vance, age 94, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014. Evelyn was born on June 2, 1919 in Carp Lake, Michigan to the late John Stegehuis and Gerturde Holthuis. She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Lee High School in 1937. She worked for many years at Herpolsheimer’s Department Store before retiring. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 1988. She leaves behind her son Ronald (Dorothy) Vance; brothers, Evert Stegehuis, George (Nancy) Stegehuis; grandchildren, Elaine, Jodie, Crystal, Leo, Kayla and Ronald Jacob; great-grandchildren, Todd, Xavier, Zachary, Alexis, and Isabella; as well as many nieces and nephews. Evelyn cherished the Stark family and enjoyed being part of the family. She enjoyed traveling abroad, especially to Hawaii, and will be remembered as an avid Tiger’s fan and a very involved and devoted grandmother. She was very thankful for the U.A.W. and their support throughout the years. A special thanks is extended to the entire staff of Allendale Nursing and Rehabilitation. Please join the family for visitation at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 2-3pm followed by her funeral service at 3pm. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Evelyn would encourage everyone to take a moment, and spend time with family and friends. That time would be even better spent over a Tiger’s game!
