

Ferdinando Pizzo, 77, of Comstock Park, died Monday, July 5th, 2010 in Sheridan Community Hospital. He was born January 16th, 1933 in Sicily, Italy and was the son of the late Salvatore and Giuseppina (Caruso) Pizzo. He was the founder and owner of Fred’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant. He is survived by his wife Lorraine (Searl) Pizzo; four sons, Salvatore (wife-Enza), Ferdinando (wife-Donna), Anthony (fiancé-Kerri), and Roberto Pizzo; a daughter Maria (husband-George) Purcell; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother Giuseppe Pizzo; three sisters, Theresa (husband-Antonio) Pizzo, Angela (husband- Rosario) Candela, and Maria (husband-Simone) Pizzo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows, 101 Hall St. S.E. with Rev. Julian Reginato as celebrant. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel, and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday. A Rosary Service will be held Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Celebrant Rev. Ted Kozlowski. In lieu of flowers the family request Memorial Contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
