Forrest Lee Rogers, age 89, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. Born on a leap day—February 29, 1936—he brought a rare kind of joy and steadfastness to those around him.
He was the beloved son of Virginia and Ernest Rogers and grew up in Grand Rapids, where he would spend much of his life building a legacy of hard work, faith, and family.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia S. Rogers, with whom he shared 62 devoted years of marriage; his second wife, Nancy S. (Lewis) Rogers, whom he lovingly spent 6 years with; and his brother, Gale Rogers.
Throughout his life, Forrest wore many hats professionally, but he found his calling in service to others. He retired as Superintendent of Maintenance, Grounds, and Transportation for Grandville Public Schools, where his dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on the community.
A longtime member of North Park Baptist Church, Forrest’s faith was central to his life. It was there he met Nancy, and together they shared a bond rooted in love and spiritual connection.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m., and a light dinner afterward. Services will be held at North Park Baptist Church, 3365 Coit Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Forrest’s life.
Forrest is survived by his sister, Joan Wallus; his six children with Patricia—Gregory (Luanne) Rogers, Rebecca (Kamm) Carpenter, Julie (Steve) Wing, Phillip (Tamara) Rogers, Eric Rogers, and Jason Rogers; Nancy’s children—Phil (Liz) Lewis and Charlotte (Doug) Hendricks; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from both Patricia and Nancy’s families, all of whom will carry forward his memory with pride and affection.
