

Frank “Slick” Savickas, aged 79, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 19, 2015 after a long battle with Dementia. He is preceded by his brothers Joe (Helen) Savickas, Pete (Betty) Savickas, Danny Savickas, and Chet Savickas as well as his sisters Angie (Ted) Pupel and Helen (Walt) Zoppa. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Sue, their children Sue (John) Hesse, Jan (Jeff) Miller, Bob Savickas, Sherrie (Don) Myers, and Mike Savickas; their grandchildren Bryan (Joanna) Savickas, Beth Savickas, Matt Miller, Michelle (Cody) Kastanek and Derek Myers. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, his sister Fran (Charlie) Steffens, sisters-in-law Anna and Bobbie Savickas, and many nieces and nephews. Frank proudly served with the 38th Transportation Battalion in the United States Army. He was a devoted employee of Guardsmen Chemical Coating for over 40 years until retirement. Frank had many hobbies and passions including gardening, fishing, and card games like setback. He was an avid golfer often hitting the greens out at Gracewil Country Club with his brother Chet. Frank was also very proud of his Lithuanian heritage. He had been a member of the Vytautas Aid Society for over 50 years as well as a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Frank also loved his sports, especially Notre Dame and the Tigers. He will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated family man. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Great Lakes Caring hospice staff for the compassionate care they gave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525) on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11am, with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
