I am the sister of someone who married into this family, and... as someone who didn't have a relationship with either of my grandfathers, I can only say that Fred was the ideal that anyone could have wished for. He was the quintessential "nice guy" and grandfatherly type that makes a house a warm home. Every impression I have of Fred is of a well-mannered person who is upright and good. My one funny memory is of him smiling and trying to be casually polite at my brother David's wedding reception while one of my severely drunk cousins at our table kept making very raucous and inappropriate comments about everyone. Fred was a class act.
