Gary Lee Murphy, age 83, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1941, to Arthur and Kathleen Murphy. He held a strong faith and was an active member of Faith United Church of God in Walker. He enjoyed listening to Elvis, watching old Elvis movies, and going for long walks. He was a funny, stubborn, and independent man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Gary was preceded in death by: wife, Dolores Murphy; parents, Arthur and Kathleen Murphy; and brothers, Mike, Arthur, and John Murphy.
Gary is survived by: daughter, Kathy (Bill) Schwandt; grandchildren, William IV, Nathan, and Zachary; great-grandchildren, William V, and Ada; brothers, Arland and Terry Murphy; nieces and nephews; and ex-wife, Florence Murphy.
A visitation for Gary will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Faith United Church of God, 3290 Walker Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49544, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Gary will be laid to rest at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery in Standale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to Faith United Church of God.
