Gerald Cummings Jr.

Gerald Clinton Cummings Jr. aged 80 of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and son Robert Cummings. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Sue, children; Carole (Don) Nugent, Cathy (Michael) Snauko, Chris (Dave) Cross, Gerald (Teresa) Cummings III, Julie (Ed) Kamphuis, 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Josephine and Ruth, many nieces, nephews, friends and his special friend, dog Peppi. Jerry worked for 39 years at Rapistan and was a volunteer fireman for Plainfield Township. He served during the Korean War with the United States Army. In his free time and retirement Gerald loved to hunt, fish, pan gold in Alaska and spend his winters with Sue in the Florida Keys. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St Jude Catholic Church 1120 4 Mile Rd NE with Rev Patrick Grile C.Ss.R. as celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE and on Thursday from 10-11 AM at church. The Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Disabled Veterans Association or St Jude Ship of Hope.
