Harold Frederick Anderson

Harold Frederick "Andy" Anderson, aged 95, passed away on June 19, 2015, after a long and wonderful life. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Shirley, in 2008, after 65 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to James and Lauren Anderson, Linda Powers and her husband Larry, who died in 2014, and Sherry and Vern Vandevooren, and grandpa to 11 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Even though his family was large, he took an interest in each person, and was rewarded with a lifetime of love. He will be dearly missed. Harold was born on January 25, 1920 and raised in Grant, Michigan, with his two brothers and two sisters who have predeceased him. As a proud veteran, he served in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army on the European front. Harold spent most of his life in Grand Rapids, enjoying winters with Shirley in Fort Myers, Florida. He made friends wherever he went, and was well known for his excellent carpentry skills. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 27, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2777 Knapp Street, NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a memorial service following at 2:00 pm. Please join us after the service for refreshments and a time of sharing.
